Art in Public Places (AiPP) is a common term for public art programs at the local government level (cities, countries). In Simple term we called as Social wall painting.

The beauty of using social messages to paint walls is that it attracts not only a bunch of very talented artists, but it can also be a medium for voices of social change, ideas or expressions. With an aim to change not only the physical appearance of the street walls of Port Blair city but also to spread social messages, the PBMC is restoring the city walls by painting beautiful illustrations with social messages. The PCMC, PCM also aims to improve its ranking under Swachh Survekshan from last year’s rank.

The old adage ‘a picture speaks thousand words’ still holds its relevance today. When words fail, a powerful painting will definitely prick our conscience and effectively convey a complex issue in a simplest way. The wall painting near the road leading to Fire Brigade aims to draw the attention of human towards various issues such as cleanliness, girl child empowerment, social etiquette, environmental pollution etc.
